P.S. Ruby Full Steam Ahead for Wentworth 150th Celebrations

27th January 2009

The Board of the PS Ruby is planning to have the Ruby steaming for Wentworth's 150th Celebrations on the weekend of Saturday, 20 and Sunday, 21 June 2009.

Captain Leon Wagner, Head of the PS Ruby Restoration Team says "that all being well PS Ruby will be offering FREE steaming trips on the PS Ruby to help Wentworth celebrate the 150th year since the naming of the town. We are delighted to be involved and want to give something back to the people of Wentworth who have supported the project for so long."

Acting Chairman Bill Brook will attend the Australian Maritime Museums Council Conference to be held in Hobart early in February 2009 and will present a report to the conference delegates on the progress towards the Ruby's final vessel survey.

"Inch by inch we are moving towards full survey and we are now gathering the equipment we need to train our volunteers who will crew the vessel during the steaming runs" says Bill, "we have just gained funding through the FACSIA Volunteer Support Grants to purchase the audio visual equipment we need to ensure that volunteers, crew and passengers are well briefed on safety procedures and will be able to record and celebrate their experiences on board the PS Ruby."

The PS Ruby will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday 12th February 2009 on board the boat and invite all Friends of the PS Ruby and interested residents to attend.
